The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a detailed advisory for candidates appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2026, outlining the dress code norms and permissible items for the examination day. The exam is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2026, across various centres nationwide.
Dress Code and Frisking Requirements
The advisory, released under the National Medical Commission, emphasizes that candidates should wear light clothing on the day of the examination. However, full-sleeved garments and woollen clothes are allowed if necessary. In such cases, candidates must report to the examination centre well in advance to accommodate thorough security checks and frisking procedures.
Regarding footwear, the NTA recommends slippers or low-heeled sandals to expedite verification processes at entry points. This measure aims to minimize delays and ensure smooth access for all test-takers.
Permissible Items at Examination Centres
Candidates are permitted to carry transparent water bottles inside the examination hall. Additionally, articles or objects of faith may be allowed, but they must be reported at the centre ahead of time and are subject to mandatory inspection as part of standard security protocols. No other unauthorized items are permitted, and candidates are urged to adhere strictly to the prescribed list to avoid any entry complications.
