With the NEET UG 2026 examination just two days away, most students have completed their preparation. At this crucial stage, the focus must shift to being ready for the exam day itself. Planning the day in advance can help avoid confusion and ensure that candidates remain calm and focused on the D-day.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory for candidates. The guidelines cover the dress code, reporting time, and items allowed inside the examination centre. Students have been asked to follow these instructions strictly to avoid any last-minute issues.
NEET UG 2026: Dress Code
As per the official guidelines by the NTA for NEET UG, the dress code is kept simple to ensure smooth frisking and avoid delays at exam centres. According to the guidelines:
- Candidates should wear light clothes.
- If wearing heavy, woolen clothes, or long sleeves, candidates must report early for checking.
- Slippers and low-heeled sandals are preferred.
NEET UG 2026: Barred Items
The NTA has prohibited a wide range of items inside the examination hall. These include:
- Any textual material (printed or written), bits of papers, geometry/pencil box, plastic pouch, calculator, pen, scale, writing pad, pen drives, eraser, log table, electronic pen/scanner, etc.
- Any communication device such as mobile phone, Bluetooth, earphones, microphone, pager, health band, etc.
- Other items like wallet, goggles, handbags, belt, cap, etc.
- Any watch/wristwatch, bracelet, camera, etc.
- Any ornaments/metallic items.
- Any food items, opened or packed, water bottle, etc.
- Any other item which could be used for unfair means, such as hiding communication devices like microchip, camera, Bluetooth device, etc.
NEET UG 2026: Allowed Items
Students are permitted to carry only the following items:
- Admit card (mandatory).
- Valid ID proof (as used during registration).
- Passport-size photograph (as per admit card instructions).
- Transparent water bottle (only if permitted at the centre).
- Items of faith (with prior reporting and checking).
Apart from the NTA guidelines, there are other basic things that students should take care of. Students should avoid wearing jewellery such as rings, chains, earrings, or bracelets. Even if some general items seem allowed, different centres may have stricter checks. It is best to carry only what is essential and avoid arguments at the centre to stay calm and focused on the exam.
It is advisable to use the washroom before the exam begins, as movement during the paper may not be allowed. Since many centres may not have proper cooling, carrying a handkerchief can also help. It is also good to be accompanied by a parent or friend who can keep personal belongings like mobile phones outside. Finally, candidates should sleep well before the exam day and reach the centre on time. The reporting time is between 11 am and 1.30 pm, and no entry will be allowed after that. Students should keep extra time for traffic or weather-related delays and reach the centre early.
The NTA has also warned that some exam centres may be incorrectly mapped on online platforms. Students should rely only on the address mentioned on the admit card and visit the location in advance if possible.
For any queries, candidates can contact the NTA through its helpline numbers or official websites.
