Nagpur: From eighth in 2025 to seventh this year, Nagpur division climbed up the rankings of SSC results, but the overall pass percentage declined by 1.45%, which the state board officials attributed to stricter evaluation and assessment.
Pass Percentage Decline
The division recorded a pass percentage of 89.07% in 2026 as compared to 90.52% last year. According to officials, the drop was not isolated to Nagpur — Maharashtra's overall pass percentage declined by nearly 2%.
Encouraging Outcomes
Despite the decline, there were several encouraging outcomes. More than 3,000 students from the division scored above 90%. This year too, girls outperformed boys. Of the 75,522 boys who appeared for the examination, 64,193 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 84.99%. Girls registered an impressive 93.34% score, with 67,452 out of 72,261 students clearing the examination.
District-Wise Performance
Nagpur district was the top performer in the division with a 93.44% result, followed by Gondia with 87.58% and Chandrapur close behind with 87.55%. Bhandara recorded a pass percentage of 87.24%, while Wardha stood at 85.78%. Gadchiroli was at the bottom with 82.18%.
School-Level Contrast
A sharp contrast was seen in school-level performances. In Nagpur district alone, 380 schools achieved a 100% result. However, eight schools failed to open the account — not a single student from those institutions cleared the exam. Overall, 631 schools across the division scored a perfect 100% result, while 19 schools registered 0% results.
Subject-Wise Highlights
Another major highlight was the subject-wise performance — 17 subjects recorded a 100% passing percentage — reflecting excellent outcomes in select academic streams and vocational subjects.
