District minister N Cheluvarayaswamy on Friday praised officials, teachers, parents, and students for their collective efforts in the SSLC examinations this year. He set a target for the district to secure a place among the top three in the state next year.
Recognition and Future Goals
Cheluvarayaswamy lauded DC Kumara, ZP CEO K R Nandini, and the education department for strengthening academic standards and steering the district's progress. He noted that Mandya students performed competitively with top-performing districts such as Udupi and Mangaluru, reflecting improved academic outcomes.
To achieve the next target, he assured full government support and said that initiatives such as special coaching for rural students, improved infrastructure, and a greater focus on digital learning would be prioritized.
Inspiring Story of Ishwarya
In Mysuru district, Ishwarya, a student of Kenchanahalli Government High School in HD Kote taluk, cleared the SSLC examination in first class after studying using a mobile torchlight due to a lack of basic infrastructure at home.
In November 2025, the local block education officer (BEO), SDMC president, school teachers, and villagers visited her house as part of efforts to improve SSLC results in the taluk. During the visit, they found Ishwarya studying by the light of a mobile phone torch.
Ishwarya lives with her mother and grandmother in Nandinathapura, about 30 km from HD Kote taluk. BEO CN Raju, who led the visit along with SDMC members and teachers, arranged a lighting facility for her after seeing the conditions in which she was studying.
Despite the lack of basic amenities, Ishwarya continued her studies and passed the SSLC examination with first class.
