Maharashtra HSC 2026: Pass Percentage Jumps to 89.79%

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has officially announced the Class 12 (HSC) examination results for the February-March 2026 term. The overall pass percentage stands at 89.79%, reflecting a significant increase of 2.09 percentage points compared to the previous academic year.

Key Performance Highlights

Consistent with past trends, female students have outperformed their male counterparts. The Konkan division achieved the highest pass percentage across the state, while the Latur division recorded the lowest. Students can access their results online from 1 PM on May 2 through the official board websites.

Registration and Appearances

A total of 14,44,713 regular students registered for the examination across nine divisional boards: Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur, and Konkan. These students appeared for examinations in Science, Arts, Commerce, vocational courses, and ITI streams. Among these, 14,33,058 students actually appeared, and 12,86,843 successfully passed, yielding an overall pass percentage of 89.79%.

Private and Repeat Candidates

For private candidates, 37,559 registered, with 36,941 appearing and 29,634 passing, resulting in a pass percentage of 80.21%. Among repeat candidates, 50,876 registered, 50,346 appeared, and only 18,349 passed, leading to a low pass percentage of 36.44%.

Differently-Abled Students

A total of 8,446 differently-abled students registered for the exam. Of these, 8,367 appeared, and 7,579 passed, achieving a commendable pass percentage of 90.58%. Eligible differently-abled students were granted grace marks as per existing board provisions.

Division-Wise Performance

The Konkan division outperformed all others with a pass percentage of 94.14%, while the Latur division registered the lowest at 84.14%.

Gender Performance

Girls achieved a pass percentage of 93.15%, significantly higher than boys, who recorded 86.80%. The gender gap stands at 6.35 percentage points in favor of female students.

Subject-Wise Results

Out of 153 subjects offered, 26 subjects recorded a perfect 100% pass result.
