The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has declared the results for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations for the year 2026. The overall pass percentage stands at an impressive 94.5%, reflecting a slight increase from the previous year.
Girls Continue to Outshine Boys
Once again, female students have outperformed their male counterparts. The pass percentage for girls is recorded at 96.2%, while boys achieved a pass rate of 92.8%. This trend of girls outperforming boys has been consistent over the past several years.
Subject-Wise Performance
In terms of subject-wise performance, students excelled in languages and social sciences. Mathematics and science subjects also saw high pass rates, though slightly lower than the humanities.
The board has also released the list of top performers. The first rank is secured by a student from Panaji, scoring 99.2% marks. The second and third ranks are held by students from Margao and Vasco da Gama, respectively.
Regional Breakdown
Among the districts, North Goa recorded a pass percentage of 95.1%, while South Goa achieved 93.9%. Urban areas performed better than rural regions, with a gap of approximately 2%.
The board has made the results available online on its official website. Students can also access their scores via SMS and mobile app. The board has also announced that supplementary examinations will be held in July 2026 for those who wish to improve their scores.
Education Minister of Goa congratulated the students and teachers for their hard work. He emphasized the government's commitment to improving the quality of education and infrastructure in schools.
This year, a total of 25,000 students appeared for the SSC examinations, out of which 23,625 have successfully passed. The number of students securing distinction (60% and above) is 8,500, while 12,000 students have passed in first class.
The board has also noted a decrease in the number of students failing in mathematics and English compared to last year, indicating improvement in these subjects.
