The National Testing Agency (NTA) has responded to complaints regarding the CUET-UG 2026 provisional answer key, stating that the number of objections received is within 'normal limits' and does not indicate any systemic issues.
Background of the Issue
Soon after the release of the provisional answer key and response sheets, several candidates took to social media claiming discrepancies in the records published by NTA. The CUET examination was conducted for 37 subjects over multiple shifts from 11th May to 31st May 2026. Due to the cancellation of the examination on 28th May on account of Bakrid, additional shifts were scheduled on 6th and 7th June 2026.
Candidate Complaints
Multiple candidates voiced their concerns on social media platforms. One user, Nikhil Singh, tweeted, 'URGENT: MASSIVE GLITCH IN CUET UG 2026! My response sheet is showing completely different answers than what I marked during the CBT. I informed the invigilator on the spot but no action was taken.' Another candidate, Aayush Pandey, reported, 'The answers in the official key do not match with my response sheet for multiple questions, which is causing serious discrepancy.'
Manish Agrawal added, 'Provisional answer keys of CUET UG 2026 released by NTA has lots of flaws. Options marked as final answers by candidates during exams are not matching with the options released by NTA. Moreover wrong options are marked as correct answers.' Another user, H²SO⁴, questioned, 'What is this @NTA_Exams? My CUET answer key is wrong, not matching any question id?'
NTA's Response
In an official statement, NTA acknowledged the concerns but emphasized that the objections are within the expected range for such a large-scale examination. The agency assured candidates that each objection will be reviewed thoroughly before finalizing the answer key. NTA also reiterated that the provisional answer key is subject to revision based on expert evaluation of valid objections.
Additional Information
The CUET-UG 2026 examination saw participation from a large number of candidates across the country. The agency has urged candidates to submit their objections through the official portal within the stipulated timeframe. The final answer key and results will be published after resolving all valid grievances.
NTA continues to monitor the situation and has advised candidates to remain patient while the review process is underway.
