The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has transferred its chairman and secretary amid an ongoing controversy over the on-screen marking system. The board has also constituted an inquiry panel to investigate the matter.
Leadership Changes
CBSE Chairman Manoj Ahuja and Secretary Anurag Tripathi have been relieved of their positions. Ahuja has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary in the Odisha government, while Tripathi has been posted as the Commissioner of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The changes come in the wake of allegations of irregularities in the on-screen marking system used for evaluating answer sheets.
Inquiry Panel Formed
The CBSE has set up a three-member inquiry panel to look into the functioning of the on-screen marking system. The panel will submit its report within a month. The decision was taken after several teachers and parents raised concerns about discrepancies in the evaluation process.
The on-screen marking system was introduced to streamline the evaluation process and reduce errors. However, reports of inconsistencies have led to widespread criticism. The board has assured that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure transparency and fairness in the evaluation process.
Background
This is not the first time the CBSE has faced controversy over its evaluation system. In the past, there have been instances of errors in marks calculation and delays in result declaration. The board has been working to implement technology-driven solutions to address these issues.
With the transfer of top officials and the formation of an inquiry panel, the CBSE aims to restore confidence in its examination and evaluation system. Further details are awaited.
