Among the successful candidates, Champabati Bhuyan, an orphan who was rescued by the district administration from Nuagada area three years ago and placed in an orphanage in Paralakhemundi, secured an A-2 grade. Another girl from Mohana area, who has been living in a CCI for the past eight years, achieved a B-2 grade. The DCPO shared that seven inmates earned B-1 grades, while 11 received B-2 grades. The remaining students passed with C and D grades.
Background of the Inmates
Of the 35 inmates, 32 are orphans who were picked up by the district administration over the years. The other three girls are survivors under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and were housed in a CCI on the direction of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The CWC chairman, Amiya Kumar Tripathy, along with the DCPO, visited the institutions on Sunday to congratulate the students.
Support from District Administration
The district administration engaged special tutors to coach the inmates before the annual exam, focusing on their success. The DCPO stated, "They have also worked hard. We are happy as all the inmates secured good percentage." He added that a counselling session will be conducted soon to understand the students' goals in life. "Accordingly, we will help them pursue their higher studies. Besides, the administration has asked them to join the Industrial Training Institute and women polytechnic for the development of their skills and get jobs," he said.
