Rajkot Division Reconstructs Bridge 311 with Modern RCC Box

In a significant development aimed at bolstering railway infrastructure and operational safety, Western Railway's Rajkot division has successfully reconstructed Bridge 311 at Aliyavada station yard. The old structure was replaced with a modern RCC twin box bridge, marking a key milestone in the division's ongoing doubling project.

Enhanced Water Discharge and Safety

The upgrade is designed to improve water discharge capacity and ensure safer train movement, particularly during the monsoon season. According to Sunil Kumar Meena, senior divisional commercial manager of the Rajkot division, the old bridge was an RCC slab-type structure with a span of 2 by 1.83 metres. It has now been replaced with a modern RCC twin box bridge measuring 2 by 1.85 by 1.56 metres.

Officials stated that the new structure significantly enhances water flow capacity, reducing the risk of waterlogging near the tracks and improving the overall stability and safety of railway operations.

Efficient Execution

The reconstruction work was completed on May 20, 2026, within a block period of just seven hours through coordinated efforts by the construction department. The operation involved removal of railway tracks, dismantling of the old bridge, launching of new RCC boxes along with base slabs, re-laying of tracks, and adjustments to overhead electrical equipment (OHE). Railway authorities confirmed that all activities were completed within the scheduled timeframe, allowing services to resume smoothly without major disruption.

Rajkot divisional railway manager Giriraj Kumar Meena emphasized that the successful completion of the project reflects the division's focus on modernization and passenger safety. He added that reconstruction work on Bridge Nos. 309, 310, and 311 at Aliyavada station yard had been completed within just 10 days, demonstrating efficient planning, strong coordination, and rapid execution by the railway teams.

Future Benefits

According to railway officials, this infrastructure upgrade will enhance the reliability and safety of train operations while supporting future traffic and passenger service requirements in the region. The project underscores Western Railway's commitment to continuous improvement and safety in rail travel.
