Punjab and South Korea Explore Agricultural Collaboration in Chandigarh

A high-level South Korean delegation engaged in productive discussions with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh on Saturday, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in advanced agricultural technologies. This meeting followed Mann's recent visit to South Korea, underscoring the growing partnership between the two regions.

Focus on Smart Farming and Technological Innovation

During the meeting, Mann emphasized the critical role of South Korea's expertise in vertical farming, automation, seed technology, and small agricultural machinery. He highlighted that these innovations could transform farming into a profitable and future-ready profession in Punjab. "Today in Chandigarh, a meeting was held with a delegation from the Republic of Korea. Comprehensive discussions were held on smart farming, agricultural machinery, and biotechnology," Mann stated, according to an official release.

The Chief Minister pointed out that South Korea's experience with small landholdings makes its models of vertical farming and efficient mechanization highly relevant for Punjab. "Punjab is keen to attract investment from South Korea in the small agriculture machinery sector, as South Korea has vast experience and proven expertise in this field," he added.

Invitation to Progressive Punjab Investors' Summit 2026

In a significant move to deepen ties, Mann formally invited the South Korean delegation to participate in the Progressive Punjab Investors' Summit 2026, scheduled to be held in Mohali from March 13 to 15. He described the summit as an ideal platform to advance cooperation in a structured and mutually beneficial manner. "This summit will provide an ideal platform to take our cooperation forward in a structured and mutually beneficial manner," Mann remarked.

The delegation appreciated Punjab's rich heritage and conducive working environment, expressing keen interest in collaboration. This signals the potential for concrete partnerships in the near future, particularly in sectors like automation of farm machinery, smart apparatus, biotechnology, and seed technology.

Recalling Past Engagements and Future Prospects

Mann recalled his visit to South Korea on December 8 and 9 last year, which aimed to position Punjab as a forward-looking destination for global investment. He noted that South Korea has already demonstrated strength and innovation in agriculture, and Punjab is eager to adopt these global best practices.
