Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has issued a clarion call for a significantly deeper and more dynamic partnership with the United Kingdom. The push came during a high-level strategic dialogue held in Chandigarh on Tuesday, where Mann outlined an ambitious blueprint for future collaboration.

While chairing the Punjab-UK Engagement Strategic Dialogue, CM Mann emphasized the need to move beyond traditional areas and venture into unexplored business domains. The meeting saw the participation of British Deputy High Commissioner Alba Smeriglio, alongside representatives from various UK-linked and multinational corporations.
Mann articulated the state government's keen interest in fortifying its relationship with the UK across both established and emerging sectors. He presented a clear vision, stating that Punjab is ready to be a prime partner for British businesses looking to expand their footprint in India's growing market.
Five Pillars and New-Age Sectors Form the Core of Collaboration
The Chief Minister laid out a detailed framework for cooperation, identifying five foundational pillars for immediate focus. These core areas are:

In addition to these traditional strengths, Mann highlighted several new-age sectors ripe for joint ventures and investment. The state is particularly eager to attract UK expertise and capital in pharmaceuticals and healthcare, information technology, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and business services.

To bolster his case, Bhagwant Mann shared a comprehensive dossier detailing Punjab's competitive advantages. A key highlight was the state's exceptional physical infrastructure, which provides a seamless gateway to markets.
Punjab boasts five operational airports and a robust network of national highways, ensuring world-class connectivity. This logistical strength, Mann argued, gives businesses based in Punjab effortless access to both domestic consumers and international export routes, making it an ideal manufacturing and services hub.
