Nagpur's Association of Industrial Development to Host Major International Business Conclave with 23 Nations
The Association of Industrial Development (AID), an independent organization dedicated to fostering economic growth in the region, has extended invitations to diplomats from 23 countries for its upcoming international business conclave. The significant event is scheduled to take place in Nagpur on February 7, marking a pivotal moment for regional and international trade relations.
High-Profile Diplomatic Participation and Strategic Importance
Among the distinguished attendees is Chinese Consul General in Mumbai, Qin Jie, whose presence underscores the event's strategic focus on strengthening business ties with China. This visit gains particular relevance in the context of ongoing economic engagements between India and its eastern neighbor. AID chairman Ashish Kale emphasized that the organization provides a crucial platform for local businesses to interact directly with foreign diplomats, facilitating meaningful dialogue and potential partnerships.
In addition to the Chinese delegation, the conclave will feature diplomats from East African, Latin American, and Caribbean nations, broadening the scope of international collaboration. Notably, ambassadors from several of these countries are confirmed to attend, elevating the forum's diplomatic stature.

The international business conclave will be held on the second day of AID's broader conference, Advantage Vidarbha, which is organized under the Khasdar Audyogik Mahotsav. The festivities commence on February 6, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari gracing the inauguration ceremony, highlighting governmental support for the initiative.
Export Opportunities and Sectoral Insights
The participation of the Chinese diplomat is anticipated to unlock new avenues for exporters in the Vidarbha region. Contrary to the widespread perception that India primarily imports from China, there are established business firms in the area that export various items to China. According to AID executive committee member Shivkumar Rao, these exports include broken rice, white rice, raw materials for finished products, and certain quantities of mineral ore.
Rao further highlighted that West African countries present substantial export opportunities for local businessmen. Beyond agricultural commodities like rice, the region exports transmission towers and other engineering goods to these nations, showcasing the diversity of trade potential.
Focused Sessions and Recent Engagements
The Chinese Consul General is slated to participate in a session on strategic economic cooperation in Asia, reflecting the deepening bilateral discussions. This follows his visit to Nagpur last month, where he engaged with Chinese employees of China Coal No 3 Mining, a company executing an order in the city. Incorporated in Hyderabad, this firm is involved in mining operations, while another entity, China Coal No 3 Construction Company, is implementing an equipment installation order for a Nagpur-based public sector undertaking.
Broader Economic Implications and Additional Attendees
Sources indicate that the Chinese diplomat's visit holds added significance due to the region's large-scale steel sector, particularly new units planned in Gadchiroli. This context is pertinent as China also exports steel products to India, suggesting areas for potential collaboration or competition.
The AID event will also welcome ambassadors from Burkina Faso, Senegal, and the Republic of Guinea representing West Africa. From Latin America, the ambassador of Peru will be among the guests, alongside diplomats from the Republic of Chad and Angola, ensuring a diverse and influential gathering aimed at boosting global business connections for Nagpur and the wider Vidarbha region.
