Gujarat and Japan's Hamamatsu Forge Economic Partnership
On Tuesday, the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Hamamatsu Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This pact aims to formalize and enhance the Sister City Partnership between Ahmedabad and Hamamatsu.
Celebrating Milestones in Indo-Japan Relations
The signing ceremony marked two significant anniversaries. It celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Indo-Japan Friendship association. It also commemorated the first anniversary of the friendship partnership between Shizuoka Prefecture and Gujarat State as Sister states.
This agreement builds on existing ties between the regions. It seeks to foster exchanges in multiple fields, including economic activities, tourism, and cultural interactions.

The Japan delegation featured prominent leaders. Hiraki Sho, Vice Governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, led the group. Yusuke Nakano, Mayor of Hamamatsu City, also participated actively.
Vice Governor Sho highlighted the importance of the partnership. "The friendship agreement between Shizuoka Prefecture and Gujarat state was signed in December, 2024," he stated. "Through this, we aim to foster exchanges in several fields including economic, tourism and culture."
