The bustling city of Bengaluru is set to witness the commencement of its second Amrit Bharat Express service, marking a significant enhancement in rail connectivity between Karnataka and West Bengal. This new weekly train will operate between SMVT Bengaluru and Alipurduar Junction, with commercial services officially starting this Saturday.
Prime Minister Modi Flags Off Inaugural Run
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally flagged off the special inaugural run of this service from Malda, underscoring the government's commitment to improving rail infrastructure and connectivity across the nation. This event highlights the strategic importance of this route in linking southern and eastern India.
Train Schedule and Operational Details
The Amrit Bharat Express, identified as Train number 16597, will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 8.50 AM every Saturday. It is scheduled to reach Alipurduar Junction at 10.25 AM on Monday, covering the long-distance journey efficiently. For the return trip, Train number 16598 will leave Alipurduar Junction at 10.25 PM every Monday, arriving at SMVT Bengaluru by 3 AM on Thursday.
This non air-conditioned train comprises 22 coaches, offering a robust capacity for passengers. The weekly frequency ensures regular service for commuters and travelers, facilitating easier access between these key regions.
Enhancing Regional Connectivity
The introduction of this express service is poised to boost travel and trade between Bengaluru and Alipurduar. By providing a direct rail link, it reduces travel time and enhances convenience for residents and businesses alike. This move aligns with broader efforts to strengthen India's rail network and promote economic growth through improved transportation.
As Bengaluru continues to grow as a major urban hub, such initiatives play a crucial role in supporting its connectivity with other parts of the country. The Amrit Bharat Express represents a step forward in making rail travel more accessible and efficient for all.
