Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani has reclaimed the title of Asia's richest person following a sharp increase in his net worth, fueled by gains across his listed Adani Group companies, according to a Forbes report cited by ANI. Forbes reported that Adani's fortune surged by approximately $2.5 billion on Friday as shares rallied across his Adani Group subsidiaries, enabling him to surpass Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and regain the top position in Asia.
Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List
As per Forbes' Real-Time Billionaires List, Adani's net worth climbed to $89.2 billion, placing him ahead of Ambani's $88 billion and SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son's $87 billion. Forbes stated, "Adani's net worth swelled to $89.2 billion, ranking him ahead of Ambani ($88 billion) and SoftBank's Masayoshi Son ($87 billion)."
Stock Rally Boosts Wealth
The increase in Adani's wealth coincided with a broad rally in several Adani Group stocks. Forbes noted that the surge included shares of Adani Power, Adani Ports, Adani Enterprises, Adani Green Energy, and Adani Energy Solutions. Specifically, Adani Green Energy gained 6.9%, while Adani Energy Solutions rose 3.8%. The report emphasized, "A boost to Adani's net worth followed a broader stock surge across companies under the umbrella of his Adani Group."
Recent Gains and Legal Developments
Adani's wealth has risen sharply over the past month. Forbes highlighted, "His fortune has increased by nearly $10 billion since the Justice Department dismissed fraud charges against the Adani Group last month." Adani and his co-executives had denied the allegations, as noted by Forbes. The report also underscored the scale of the group's listed businesses, revealing that the combined market value of six major Adani Group companies stood at approximately $191 billion as of Friday.
