The first Himira She Haat in Kangra district was inaugurated at Chamunda, offering a dedicated space for local women artisans to display and market their handmade crafts and products. This initiative aims to empower women economically by providing them with direct access to consumers, eliminating middlemen, and ensuring fair prices for their work.
Empowering Women Artisans
The Himira She Haat is a significant step towards women's empowerment in the region. It features stalls where women can sell items such as traditional embroidery, handwoven textiles, pottery, and organic food products. The market operates on weekends, attracting both locals and tourists.
Government Support
The project is supported by the Himachal Pradesh government under its rural development and women empowerment schemes. Officials emphasized that such haats not only boost income but also preserve traditional crafts and promote tourism.
Local women expressed enthusiasm, stating that the haat provides a much-needed platform to showcase their skills and earn a livelihood. The initiative is expected to expand to other districts in the future.
