The Jaipur Zila Dugdh Utpadak Sahakari Sangh Ltd on Wednesday announced a Rs 2-per-litre increase in Saras milk prices for Jaipur and Dausa districts, effective from the evening of May 21. The decision was attributed to rising production and operational costs.
Revised Milk Prices
According to an official release, the revised rates apply to all milk variants distributed by the cooperative. Prices of milk-based products such as curd and paneer have also been increased from the same date.
- Saras Toned Milk (blue packet): Now Rs 56 per litre, up from Rs 54.
- Standard Milk: Now Rs 62 per litre, up from Rs 60.
- Saras Gold Milk: Now Rs 70 per litre, up from Rs 68.
- Double Toned Milk: Now Rs 48 per litre, up from Rs 46.
Reasons for Price Hike
A spokesperson for Jaipur Dairy stated that livestock farmers are facing escalating expenses on cattle feed, fodder, electricity, medicines, and maintenance. In view of increasing input costs, Jaipur Dairy has raised the milk procurement price by Rs 25 per kilogram of fat. Milk producers will now receive Rs 875 per kilogram of fat, compared to the earlier Rs 850.
The hike aims to support dairy farmers amid rising operational costs and ensure the sustainability of milk production in the region.
