The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented revised toll rates at the Kherki Daula plaza in Haryana, marking a significant increase for commuters using the crucial Delhi-Jaipur Expressway. The new charges came into effect from Sunday, affecting multiple vehicle categories while maintaining exemptions for local vehicles.
New Toll Structure Implemented
The revision follows the awarding of a new tender to a different concessionaire by the NHAI. According to officials at the site, the updated fee structure applies immediately to all non-local vehicles passing through this important toll collection point on National Highway 48.
Detailed Breakdown of Revised Charges
For cars, jeeps, vans, and light motor vehicles: The single journey fee has increased from ₹85 to ₹95. While the return journey charge within a day remains unchanged at ₹145, the monthly pass valid for 50 single journeys has seen a substantial jump from ₹930-950 to ₹3,240. Commercial vehicles registered in the district continue to pay ₹50 per single journey.
For light commercial vehicles, light goods vehicles, and mini buses: Single journey rates have risen from ₹125 to ₹155. The daily return journey fee stays at ₹235, but the monthly pass has increased dramatically from ₹1,225-1,255 to ₹5,230. District-registered commercial vehicles in this category maintain their ₹80 per journey rate.
For buses and trucks with two axles: Commuters now pay ₹330 instead of ₹255 for a single journey. The return journey within a day remains ₹495, while the monthly pass has skyrocketed from ₹3,770 to ₹10,960. Local commercial vehicles continue to be charged ₹165 per trip.
For three-axle commercial vehicles: The single journey fee has increased from ₹255 to ₹360. The return journey charge stays at ₹540, and the monthly pass jumps from ₹3,770 to ₹11,955. District-registered vehicles pay the unchanged rate of ₹180 per journey.
For heavy construction machinery and multi-axle vehicles: Vehicles with four to six axles now pay ₹515 instead of ₹255 for a single journey. The return journey remains ₹775, while the monthly pass increases from ₹3,770 to ₹17,190. Local commercial vehicles continue to pay ₹260 per trip.
For oversized vehicles with seven or more axles: The single journey charge has more than doubled from ₹255 to ₹630. The return journey fee stays at ₹940, and the monthly pass sees a massive increase from ₹3,770 to ₹20,925. District-registered vehicles maintain their ₹315 per journey rate.
Impact on Commuters and Transport Sector
The revised toll structure represents one of the most significant increases in recent times, particularly affecting regular commuters and commercial transport operators. The substantial hike in monthly pass rates indicates a strategic shift in revenue generation for the new concessionaire.
The exemption for locally registered commercial vehicles continues to provide some relief to district-based businesses, though the overall impact on transportation costs across the Delhi-Jaipur corridor is expected to be considerable.
