Greater Noida Residents Escalate Protest Over Builder Neglect and Maintenance Failures

Residents of La Residentia Society in Greater Noida West sustained their demonstration for a second consecutive day on Sunday, intensifying their outcry against alleged builder indifference and unresolved maintenance concerns that have plagued the community for months.

Core Issues Driving the Agitation

The protest, mirroring earlier actions this year, underscores persistent grievances that residents claim remain largely unaddressed. With approximately 2,200 of the society's 3,256 flats currently occupied, families are grappling with a multitude of problems that severely impact daily living.

Resident Testimonies Highlight Systemic Failures

"The builder is not maintaining the society facilities and residents are facing numerous problems—from faulty lifts and poor-quality water to security lapses and lack of cleanliness," stated resident Sumil Jalota. "We have been protesting every Sunday for the past three weeks, but instead of improvements, the situation remains unchanged."

The protest gained additional momentum as senior members of the society's mandir committee joined the demonstration. Several women organized a bhajan-kirtan at the protest site to express solidarity with the residents' demands, blending spiritual expression with civic activism.

"We want a responsive maintenance system. The lack of manpower for upkeep, security and lift maintenance is unacceptable," emphasized Neeta Aggarwal, a member of the bhajan committee.

Planned Escalation and Builder Response

Residents announced plans to intensify their agitation with a larger gathering in the coming days, where posters and caricatures will be displayed to visually highlight their concerns. A peaceful sit-in protest is scheduled to begin on Monday, followed by a 10-day camp outside the builder's sales office during the upcoming Navratras to draw wider attention to the issue.

In response to the mounting pressure, the builder has proposed a meeting with residents. Yatin Malik, technical manager of the private agency recently appointed for maintenance, explained that the firm took charge on February 1 and is currently completing the handover process from the previous agency.

"We will address the residents' concerns once the handover and documentation process is complete," Malik assured, though residents remain skeptical given the prolonged nature of their complaints.

The protest represents a growing trend of residential communities in the National Capital Region taking collective action against perceived builder negligence, particularly in societies transitioning from builder management to resident welfare associations.
