UP Skill Development Mission Launches Statewide Employment Drive for Differently-Abled Persons
The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has announced a major initiative to boost employment opportunities for differently-abled individuals across the state. The 'Divyangjan Employment Campaign 2.0' will be organized in all districts from February 6 to February 13, 2024.
Campaign Objectives and Scope
The primary objective of this special campaign is to provide comprehensive employment and self-employment opportunities to persons with disabilities. This initiative represents a significant step toward inclusive economic development and social empowerment.
State Minister (Independent) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Agarwal, emphasized that the campaign will specifically target differently-abled persons who have received training through the Skill Development Mission and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) over the past three years.
Implementation Strategy
The campaign will operate through multiple channels to maximize participation and effectiveness:
- All differently-abled persons registered on the Rojgar Sangam portal will be automatically included in the campaign
- Candidates will be connected with opportunities in industrial units across various sectors
- Self-employment schemes under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department will be made accessible
- Collaboration with District Industry and Export Promotion Centres will create additional pathways
- Other government departments will participate to provide diverse employment options
District-Level Implementation
District magistrates have received specific directions to ensure wide publicity for the campaign at the local level. This comprehensive outreach strategy aims to ensure maximum participation from eligible candidates who can benefit from these employment opportunities.
The campaign features a competitive element to encourage district-level performance. The top five districts that provide the maximum employment and self-employment opportunities to differently-abled persons will receive certificates of appreciation for their district magistrates and their teams.
Data Collection and Timeline
The campaign will run for eight days, with the deadline for data collection set for 5:00 PM on February 13, 2024. This structured timeline ensures efficient implementation and measurable outcomes.
This initiative reflects the Uttar Pradesh government's commitment to creating an inclusive workforce and providing equal opportunities for all citizens, particularly those from marginalized communities.
