Detailed Financial Breakdown and Commodity Performance

The total revenue generated by the Trichy division for FY 2025-26 stood at an impressive Rs 1,390.2 crore. A detailed analysis of freight earnings reveals that coal was the top-performing commodity, bringing in Rs 537.9 crore.

Food grains followed with earnings of Rs 112.9 crore, while fertilizers contributed Rs 42.8 crore. Notably, the loading of fertilizers and food grains saw exponential growth, increasing by 699% and 41% respectively. This surge is directly attributed to the reported increase in agricultural yield from the Cauvery delta districts.

Operational Excellence and Infrastructure Development

To manage the festive season demand efficiently, the division operated 56 special trains. Despite a 4% increase in overall train operations, the division maintained an exemplary punctuality rate of 94.4% for mail and express trains. This represents a 0.4% improvement compared to the previous financial year.

On the infrastructure front, the electrification of the Thiruthuraipoondi-Pattukottai section (49 km) has been successfully completed. Work is currently in progress on the Pattukottai to Tiruvarur section, signaling ongoing modernization efforts.

Auxiliary Revenue Streams and Regulatory Measures

Additional revenue streams also showed positive results. Parcel earnings were valued at Rs 6.9 crore, while ticket-checking activities generated Rs 13.3 crore.

The division also enforced cleanliness regulations strictly, collecting a penalty of Rs 17.5 lakh from 8,124 defaulters for activities that compromised the cleanliness of railway premises.

Leadership Perspective on Success

Divisional Manager Balak Ram Negi commented on the division's performance, stating, "With a strong foundation of innovation, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement, Trichy division continues to set new benchmarks in performance and efficiency." This statement underscores the strategic approach behind the division's consistent achievements.
