Trichy Launches Comprehensive Skill Development Program for Aspiring Agro Machinery Mechanics
The agricultural engineering department in Trichy is set to launch an extensive skill development initiative aimed at boosting the number of qualified agro machinery mechanics in the district. This program will be conducted at the government tractor workshop in Trichy, running from February 10 to 27, with a primary focus on generating employment opportunities for rural youth by enhancing their technical expertise.
Hands-On Training and Practical Demonstrations
In collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, the workshop will feature hands-on demonstrations using a tractor's cut section model. Participants will receive practical instruction on the operation, maintenance, and repair of various agricultural implements and machinery, ensuring they gain real-world skills applicable to the farming sector.
Certification and Tool Kits for Sustainable Livelihoods
At the conclusion of the workshop, trainees will undergo both a written and a practical examination to assess their proficiency. "Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a certificate and a tool kit. They can use their skill to repair agricultural machinery, generate income, and build sustainable livelihoods," stated assistant engineer A Asokan. This certification is designed to empower youth with the credentials needed to secure employment or start their own ventures in agro-mechanics.
Eligibility Criteria for Rural Youth
The program is open to eligible candidates who are rural youth aged between 18 and 35 years. Applicants must have passed at least Class 10 or hold an ITI, diploma, or degree in any field, making it accessible to a wide range of individuals seeking to enter the agricultural machinery repair industry.
This initiative underscores the government's commitment to skill development and rural employment, aiming to address the growing demand for skilled mechanics in the agricultural sector while fostering economic growth in Trichy and surrounding areas.
