Three Workers Die from Burns After Major Fire at Ahmedabad Snacks Factory
In a tragic industrial accident, three workers have succumbed to severe burn injuries sustained in a major fire at a snacks manufacturing factory in Ahmedabad. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, March 3, at the Aavkar Foods unit located in the Maheshwari Industrial Estate within the Madhavpura area of the city.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The fire broke out around 2:30 AM on Tuesday, engulfing the premises where the workers both lived and worked. According to police reports, a suspected short circuit is believed to have triggered the blaze, which resulted in all three individuals sustaining critical burn injuries. They were immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Despite receiving care, the workers could not survive their injuries. The Madhavpura police have registered a case of accidental death and have initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire to determine the exact cause and any potential safety lapses.
Identification of the Deceased Workers
The victims have been identified as:
- Subhash Parmar, 26, a resident of Bari Fara village in Aspur taluka, Dungarpur district, Rajasthan.
- Arvind Parmar, 18, also from Bari Fara village in Aspur taluka, Dungarpur district, Rajasthan.
- Kuldeepsinh Rajput, 18, a resident of Khetakheda village in Neemuch district, Madhya Pradesh.
Subhash and Arvind Parmar passed away on Thursday, while Kuldeepsinh Rajput died in the early hours of Friday. Their deaths highlight the severe risks faced by industrial workers, particularly in settings where living and working conditions may overlap.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Impact
The police are continuing their investigation into the fire, focusing on the suspected electrical fault and examining the factory's safety protocols. This incident has raised concerns about workplace safety standards in industrial estates, especially for migrant workers who often reside on-site.
The tragedy underscores the need for stringent fire safety measures and regular inspections in manufacturing facilities to prevent such accidents. The local community and authorities are mourning the loss of these young workers, whose families in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have been devastated by the news.
As the probe advances, further updates are expected regarding any findings or actions taken to improve safety in the area's industrial units.
