RIICO Mandates Comprehensive Infrastructure Assessment for Rajasthan's Industrial Zones
In a significant move to address persistent infrastructure challenges, the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) has issued a directive requiring its zonal heads to submit detailed reports on local problems within 15 days. This initiative aims to tackle critical issues affecting industrial clusters across the state, including drainage systems, road conditions, street lighting, waste management protocols, and green cover maintenance.
Recurring Infrastructure Problems Plague Key Industrial Hubs
Officials have highlighted that waterlogging during monsoon seasons remains a recurring problem in numerous industrial zones. Additionally, damaged internal roads and congested approach routes continue to disrupt logistics operations, particularly in major export-oriented hubs such as Bhiwadi and Neemrana. Other common concerns identified include non-functional streetlights, inadequate signage, and inefficient waste disposal mechanisms.
RIICO Chairman Emphasizes Need for Infrastructure Upgrades
Chairing a meeting with senior officials, RIICO Chairman Shikhar Agrawal emphasized that improving infrastructure and sustainability in industrial areas is crucial for enhancing operational ease for industrial units. "Although developing new industrial areas is essential, upgrading facilities and infrastructure in existing zones is equally critical. Until now, ground conditions and basic amenities required for smooth business operations did not receive adequate attention. Our objective is to change this," stated Agrawal.
Tailored Solutions for Different Industrial Zones
Agrawal pointed out that conditions vary significantly across different industrial clusters. "Conditions in VKI or Sitapura were very different from those in Neemrana or Bhiwadi. Zonal heads are best placed to identify gaps, and we want clear, actionable inputs from the ground," he added. This approach ensures that solutions are customized to address the specific needs of each zone.
Integrating Sustainability with Infrastructure Development
The RIICO chairman underscored that infrastructure upgrades would be closely linked with greening and sustainability initiatives, especially in older industrial estates. "Industrial areas cannot function as concrete islands. Green belts, proper waste management, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient lighting must become integral to our planning," he asserted.
Agrawal further elaborated on zone-specific priorities: "In areas like Neemrana and Bhiwadi, where industrial density is high, scientific waste management and dust control are critical. In Jaipur's industrial zones, improving green cover and pedestrian safety is equally important." This strategic focus aims to create more sustainable and efficient industrial environments across Rajasthan.
