Oberoi Group and Springedge Solutions Forge Partnership for Amritsar Hotel Project
In a significant development for Punjab's hospitality sector, Minister Sanjeev Arora revealed on Saturday that the Oberoi Group and Springedge Solutions Pvt Ltd have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a world-class hotel in Amritsar. The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both entities, including R Shankar, President of Corporate and Legal Affairs at Oberoi Group, and directors Shahbaz Singh, Avtar Singh, and Amandeep Kaur from Springedge Solutions. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Administrative Secretary for Industries and Commerce, was also present to witness the agreement.
Details of the Amritsar Hotel Development
Arora elaborated that the upcoming project will feature 150 rooms and will be developed under the prestigious Trident brand of the Oberoi Group. Strategically located on the Amritsar-Tarn Taran road, approximately 3 kilometers from the iconic Golden Temple, the hotel will span three acres. With an estimated investment of around Rs 400 crore, this initiative is poised to substantially enhance Amritsar's premium hospitality infrastructure, catering to both domestic and international tourists.
Economic Impact and Employment Generation
The minister highlighted that the hotel is expected to generate employment for approximately 350 individuals, thereby providing a significant boost to local economic activity and job creation in the region. This project aligns with broader efforts to strengthen Punjab's economic landscape through strategic investments in key sectors.
Punjab's Investment Milestones and Growth Trajectory
Arora further underscored Punjab's robust investment climate, noting that the state has attracted Rs 59,448 crore in investments for the fiscal year 2025-26, marking the highest in its history. This influx is projected to create 1,33,221 jobs. Since April 1, 2022, Punjab has secured investments totaling Rs 1,59,947 crore, with an employment potential of 5,57,664 jobs. These figures reflect the growing confidence of investors in the state's economic policies and development potential.
