Industrial Surge Around Noida International Airport Marks Significant Growth
Industrial activity in the vicinity of the upcoming Noida International Airport has witnessed a substantial acceleration over the past year, according to recent data from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). This growth reflects heightened investor interest in the airport-led industrial corridor, which is poised to transform the region into a major logistics and manufacturing hub.
Key Metrics Show Sharp Increases in Industrial Engagement
The data reveals that industrial plot allotments rose from 3,059 as of March 31, 2025, to 3,113 by March 13, 2026, marking an addition of 54 plots within a single year. While this increase in allotments is modest, other indicators demonstrate more dramatic growth.
Lease deeds executed surged significantly, climbing from 1,632 to 2,363—an addition of 731 deeds. This indicates that more allottees are formalizing their commitments to develop the plots.
Furthermore, the number of units taking physical possession of industrial plots saw a sharp rise, from 990 in March 2025 to 1,785 in March 2026. This uptick suggests that companies are moving forward with project implementation at an accelerated pace.
Construction Activity Intensifies as Airport Nears Operational Status
Construction activity has intensified notably over the past year. The number of sanctioned industrial building plans increased from 318 to 716, representing an addition of 398 approvals. Consequently, units under construction rose from 120 to 341, marking an increase of 221 projects.
This construction boom is gradually translating into completed and operational industries. Completed units increased from 17 to 60, while operational units rose from nine to 33 during the same period. Additionally, registrations under the Factories Act increased from five to 33, adding 28 units.
DGCA License Paves Way for Airport Operations
A major milestone was achieved on March 6, when the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an aerodrome license for Noida International Airport. This critical step toward operationalizing the greenfield airport project indicates that the first flight could commence within 45 days from the license date.
Officials believe that with the airport expected to become operational soon, industrial activity will accelerate even further. YEIDA CEO RK Singh projected that around 400 industrial units are likely to become operational by the end of 2026.
YEIDA Initiatives Drive Streamlined Development
YEIDA has implemented several initiatives to streamline the execution of lease deeds and facilitate property possession for allottees. Singh explained, "We reviewed the allotted plots and identified key issues. Some plots were stuck in litigation, and we expedited the process. Farmers whose land was acquired were also given 7% developed plots."
The Authority additionally acquired land to meet growing demand for industrial development in the area. In a move to ensure active development, YEIDA served notices and cancelled over 130 plots that had been allotted but not registered. However, following requests from allottees, these cancellation orders were subsequently revoked.
Singh emphasized, "We are ensuring that all allottees take possession of their plots and begin construction and development work."
Diverse Industrial Parks and International Interest
YEIDA has allotted industrial plots across various specialized zones, including Yamuna City, Apparel Park, Toy Park, and Medical Devices Park, among other sectors. The region's potential has attracted international attention, with a Japanese delegation recently meeting YEIDA officials to explore investment opportunities. This included a proposal to develop a project on five acres near the airport.
The overall trend reflects growing investor confidence as companies advance with project implementation, encouraged by the upcoming airport's potential to enhance connectivity and logistics capabilities. This development is set to position the Noida airport corridor as a pivotal industrial and economic hub in the National Capital Region.
