Nellore's Moolapeta Govt School Gets Rs 20 Crore Makeover, Now Matches Top Private Schools
Nellore Moolapeta Govt School Gets Rs 20 Crore Makeover

In a major boost to public education infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, a government high school in Nellore's Moolapeta has undergone a complete architectural and technological transformation, now rivaling the facilities of top-tier private institutions. The Moolapeta Government High School was revamped at a cost of Rs 20 crore through a public-private partnership, marking a significant infrastructure push in the region's municipal school network.

Revival Under Public-Private Partnership

Following the recent restoration of the historic VR High School, the civic administration partnered with Hyderabad-based infrastructure major DSR Constructions to execute the Moolapeta project under a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Narayana, along with city mayor Devarakonda Sujata Ashok, inspected the newly finished campus over the weekend ahead of its formal commissioning.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

Speaking to reporters, Minister Narayana highlighted that the school campus now spans a 24,000-square-foot built-up area on a 2.5-acre land parcel. Moving away from traditional public school layouts, the new fortress-like structure features 14 high-tech, fully furnished classrooms along with dedicated laboratory blocks for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science. Most notably, the campus houses what officials describe as the most advanced school-level robotics laboratory in Andhra Pradesh.

World-Class Sports Complex

The Moolapeta Government School now boasts a world-class sports complex designed by specialist consultants from Bengaluru. The facility includes a synthetic enamel-coated kabaddi court, cricket practice nets, a half-basketball court, and two badminton courts, providing students with ample opportunities for physical development.

Fast-Tracked Project Completion

Devireddy Sudhakar Reddy, Managing Director of DSR Constructions, stated that the project was fast-tracked following a proposal by the municipal administration in August 2023. “The objective was to deliver a corporate-level academic environment within a strict eight-month window, and we were able to complete the works before the commencement of the new academic year,” he added. The project's completion ahead of schedule underscores the efficiency of the public-private collaboration.
