MP Dairy Federation Embarks on Digital Transformation to Boost Milk Procurement
The MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation has launched a significant digital overhaul of its operations, aiming to increase milk procurement and minimize losses during storage and transit. This initiative involves the implementation of an integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system across its extensive dairy network, marking a major step towards modernization in the sector.
Mobile App Introduced for Enhanced Transparency
As part of this digital push, the federation has developed a mobile application designed to digitize milk procurement at the village level through cooperative societies. Through this app, milk producers will receive instant SMS alerts with detailed information, including fat percentage and other quality parameters of the milk they supply. This innovation is expected to bring greater transparency to procurement processes and improve quality monitoring, empowering farmers with real-time data.
Implementation Under NDERP Platform
The transformation is being carried out under the National Dairy Development Board Enterprise Resource Planning (NDERP) platform, following the National Dairy Development Board's takeover of the federation's management. Dr. Sanjay Govani, managing director of the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation, emphasized that this digital initiative will enhance efficiency and transparency throughout the dairy network. He stated, "Digitalisation will bring transparency and consolidate operational data on a single platform, making it easily accessible for monitoring and decision-making. It will also help strengthen the milk procurement system and overall coordination across the federation."
Real-Time Monitoring and Operational Scale
Officials have highlighted that the new system is designed to enable real-time monitoring and faster decision-making across the cooperative dairy network, which operates through Dugdh Sanghs in key cities such as Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, Jabalpur, and Sagar. In March 2026, the federation recorded an average milk procurement of approximately 11.77 lakh kg per day, with packet milk sales reaching around 6.63 lakh litres per day. This scale underscores the importance of integrating digital tools to manage operations effectively.
Digitisation Across Departments
Digitisation efforts have already been implemented in various departments, including:
- Marketing
- Stock inventory
- Order placement
- Finance
This comprehensive approach ensures that all aspects of the federation's activities are streamlined, contributing to improved overall performance and sustainability in the dairy industry.
