A devastating accident at an under-construction apartment building in Varthur, Bengaluru, resulted in the deaths of two labourers on Wednesday evening. The victims, identified as lift mechanic Mutthappa and operator Sathya Kumar, were performing repair work when the lift they were in collapsed from one of the top floors.

The incident occurred in a building being constructed by SSVR Constructions. According to police reports, the engineer in-charge had informed the lift company about a technical fault, prompting Mutthappa and Kumar to enter the lift for repairs. Around 5 PM, the lift reportedly gave way, plummeting from a significant height.

Both workers sustained severe injuries in the collapse and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite immediate medical attention, they were declared dead upon arrival.
