KTM Announces Major Warranty Expansion for Global Road Motorcycles
In a significant move for motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide, KTM has unveiled an expanded warranty program for its road-legal motorcycles. Starting with the 2025 model year, all street-legal KTM motorcycles sold in global markets will now come with a standard four-year warranty. This represents a doubling of the previous coverage period offered on most models, marking a substantial enhancement in customer assurance and product confidence.
Comprehensive Coverage Across All Road-Going Segments
The new warranty policy applies universally to all road-going KTM motorcycles, irrespective of engine capacity. This inclusive approach ensures that bikes across multiple segments benefit from the updated program. Specifically, models in the Adventure, Dual Sport, Naked, Supersport, Sports Tourer, and Supermoto categories will be covered under the extended warranty scheme.
However, KTM has clarified important exclusions: the policy will not apply to track-only machines and off-road dirt bikes, which remain outside this warranty expansion. This distinction maintains the focus on consumer-oriented road vehicles while acknowledging the specialized nature of competition and off-road models.
Doubling the Warranty Period from Previous Standards
Previously, most road-legal KTM motorcycles were equipped with a two-year standard warranty. With this new announcement, the company has effectively doubled the coverage period to four years for models produced from the 2025 model year onwards. This enhancement applies to motorcycles manufactured across KTM's global production network, including sub-400cc single-cylinder bikes produced by Bajaj Auto and larger multi-cylinder models assembled at KTM's international facilities.
Extensive Model Range and Engine Capacities Covered
KTM's portfolio encompasses a diverse array of motorcycles, with engine capacities spanning from 125cc to 1,350cc across single- and twin-cylinder configurations. Under the new policy, all road-going models within this extensive lineup will become eligible for the extended four-year coverage once they are produced as 2025 model year motorcycles. This ensures that riders of various preferences and needs can benefit from increased protection and peace of mind.
Impact on Indian Buyers: Already Ahead with Longer Warranties
Does this warranty expansion impact Indian buyers? Interestingly, the new four-year standard warranty has been introduced primarily for overseas markets. In India, KTM motorcycles already come with a more generous five-year standard warranty. Furthermore, Indian customers have the option to extend this coverage to up to ten years, depending on the specific plan chosen at purchase.
In the Indian market, KTM is renowned for its performance-oriented naked and sport motorcycles. Popular models include the KTM Duke 200, KTM Duke 390, and KTM RC 200. The brand also offers other notable options such as the KTM Duke 250 and the adventure-focused KTM 390 Adventure, all of which already benefit from the existing longer warranty terms in the region.
