Kia Seltos Makes History with Perfect Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
The automotive industry in India has witnessed a significant safety milestone as the new Kia Seltos SUV has achieved a full five-star rating in the rigorous Bharat NCAP crash tests. This accomplishment establishes the Seltos as the highest-scoring internal combustion engine (ICE) model ever evaluated under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme, setting a new benchmark for vehicle safety standards in the country.
Exceptional Adult and Child Protection Scores
The Kia Seltos delivered near-perfect performance across all safety parameters, securing an impressive 31.70 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 points for child safety. Bharat NCAP conducted its comprehensive assessment using the diesel-automatic HTE(O) and GTX variants, with the resulting five-star rating applicable to all versions of this popular SUV model.
Adult Occupant Protection Results: 31.70/32
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Seltos achieved an outstanding 15.70 out of 16 points, while it earned a perfect 16 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. During frontal impact simulations, the driver received 'good' protection ratings for critical body regions including the head, chest, pelvis, thighs, and right tibia, with both feet and the left tibia rated 'adequate'. Remarkably, all key body regions of the co-driver received 'good' protection ratings.
In side impact tests, which included both movable deformable barrier and pole assessments, protection for vital areas such as the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis was rated 'good' for both front occupants, demonstrating comprehensive safety engineering.
Child Occupant Protection Results: 45/49
The SUV scored 45 out of 49 points in child occupant protection assessment, achieving full marks in dynamic performance (24/24) and Child Restraint System installation (12/12), while the vehicle assessment score reached 9 out of 13 points. During crash tests, rearward-facing 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies received perfect scores, with 8 out of 8 points in frontal impact and 4 out of 4 points in side impact tests for each dummy configuration.
