Large-scale construction activity is underway at the Kharegaon toll naka on the Mumbai–Nashik highway as the widening project between Majiwada and Vadpe nears completion. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is overseeing the expansion, with officials confirming that most of the major roadwork has already been completed.
Extensive Toll Plaza Development
Officials have revealed that a large toll plaza featuring approximately 30 to 38 toll booths is being developed at Kharegaon as part of the upgraded highway infrastructure. This will significantly enhance toll collection capacity on one of the busiest corridors in the region.
Lane Expansion Underway
The project involves expanding the busy corridor from four lanes to as many as 12 lanes on key stretches. This expansion aims to improve traffic movement and reduce congestion for commuters traveling between Mumbai, Thane, Bhiwandi, and Nashik.
Commuters on the Mumbai–Nashik highway can witness ongoing structural and roadwork activity around the Kharegaon toll naka area, including lane expansion work. The scale of construction has drawn attention from regular travelers and local residents alike.
Strategic Location and Traffic Management
The upcoming toll plaza is strategically located on a crucial stretch connecting major urban centers, making it one of the busiest transport corridors in the region. To facilitate the widening and infrastructure work, authorities have implemented traffic diversions and closed parts of the Kharegaon underpass for several months.
Officials expect the project to significantly ease traffic flow once completed, benefiting thousands of daily commuters. The visible transformation at the Kharegaon toll naka site underscores the progress of this major infrastructure initiative.
