Rajasthan Aims to Transform Jaipur into India's Premier Global Capability Centre Hub
Jaipur's Bid to Become India's Next GCC Hub with Policy and Infrastructure

Rajasthan's Strategic Push to Establish Jaipur as India's Next Global Capability Centre Hub

In a significant move to boost economic development, Rajasthan is making a bold and strategic pitch to position Jaipur as India's next premier hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs). This ambitious initiative combines competitive policy incentives, extensive infrastructure development, and active private sector engagement to create a compelling ecosystem for global players.

The Rajasthan Mandapam Project: A Centerpiece of Development

The centrepiece of this aggressive push is the Rajasthan Mandapam project, strategically located near Jaipur airport. This visionary development is planned with three dedicated GCC towers offering 1.7 million square feet of built-up space. The project is meticulously designed to embody the modern 'live, work, play' concept that appeals to contemporary global businesses and their workforce.

ACS (Industries) and RIICO Chairman Shikhar Agrawal emphasized the state's commitment, stating, "The state government has already unveiled one of the country's most competitive GCC policies, offering the best set of incentives available anywhere in India."

RIICO's Role as Ecosystem Catalyst

The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) is acting as a crucial catalyst for ecosystem development. RIICO is facilitating transparent land allotment at subsidized rates through various schemes specifically designed to attract global corporations and investors.

RIICO Managing Director Shivangi Swarnkar elaborated on the comprehensive nature of the project, saying, "The Rajasthan Mandapam project integrates multiple lifestyle elements including hotels, premium residences, waterfront jogging tracks, museums, and cultural hubs. This creates a complete lifestyle ecosystem that specifically appeals to global talent seeking quality living standards alongside professional opportunities."

She further revealed that RIICO is actively engaging private developers to add another 2 million square feet of workspace, ensuring immediate availability for companies ready to establish or expand their operations in Jaipur.

Industry Perspectives and Strategic Focus Areas

Industry leaders have provided crucial insights into how Jaipur should strategically position itself in the competitive GCC landscape. Saurabh Mehta, a GCC leader with extensive global experience, advised, "Rajasthan has demonstrated proven competence in finance and technology sectors. The strategic focus should be on attracting financial and technology GCCs to Jaipur, rather than attempting to bring in every possible GCC from across the world."

However, Mehta highlighted critical gaps that require immediate attention. "Foreign leaders and executives will need to travel frequently to oversee operations. For this to happen seamlessly, Jaipur requires significantly stronger international flight connectivity and reliable, efficient commuting options within the city," he emphasized.

Addressing Talent Development and Infrastructure Challenges

With artificial intelligence fundamentally reshaping GCC operations globally, mid-sized capability centres are increasingly looking beyond mere scale. The emphasis has shifted decisively toward quality work environments and talent development as essential infrastructure components.

Industry experts argue that Rajasthan possesses unique advantages that can be leveraged effectively. The state should capitalize on its established strengths in tourism and hospitality by reskilling this workforce with AI and technology capabilities. This approach would position Jaipur as a global destination for niche, specialized GCCs that value both technical expertise and service excellence.

The combination of competitive policy frameworks, substantial infrastructure investment, and strategic industry alignment represents Rajasthan's comprehensive approach to transforming Jaipur into a formidable contender in India's GCC landscape, potentially rivaling established hubs like Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
