Hyundai Motor India has announced a historic sales milestone for its popular mid-size SUV, the Creta. The vehicle has achieved its highest-ever annual sales, crossing the landmark figure of 2 lakh units sold in the calendar year 2025. This translates to an impressive average of approximately 550 vehicles finding a new home every single day.
A Decade of Dominance and Growth
This record-breaking achievement coincides with the Creta completing a successful decade in the Indian automotive market. Over its ten-year journey, the model has demonstrated consistent growth, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 9% between 2016 and 2025. Hyundai's statement confirms that the Creta has been the country's best-selling SUV on a cumulative basis for the past five years, solidifying its position as a market leader.
Unmatched Market Leadership and Evolving Trends
The Creta's dominance is quantified by its commanding over 34% share in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment. Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO designate of Hyundai Motor India Limited, emphasized that the Creta has been the highest-selling SUV in India cumulatively from 2020 to 2025. The buyer profile for the SUV has seen a significant shift, with first-time buyers rising sharply to account for 32% of sales in 2025, up from just 13% in 2020.
Consumer preferences are clearly reflected in the choice of variants. Features like sunroofs have become immensely popular, with over 70% of customers opting for sunroof-equipped variants. Despite the industry's shift towards petrol, the diesel engine continues to hold substantial appeal, contributing 44% to the Creta's total sales volume in 2025.

The SUV is available with petrol, diesel, and electric variants, catering to a wide spectrum of customer needs and preferences.
