In a significant development for India's technology and economic landscape, Telangana's IT and Industries Minister, D Sridhar Babu, announced on Wednesday that Hyderabad has firmly established itself as an attractive destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs). The minister emphasized that the city's strong infrastructure, progressive policy environment, and deep talent pool are key drivers behind this emergence, positioning Hyderabad uniquely to lead the next wave of digital transformation in the country.
Strengthening Ecosystem Through Innovation and Collaboration
Minister Sridhar Babu underscored the critical need for continuous ecosystem strengthening as global firms seek to build resilient and future-ready operations. He stated, "As global firms look to build resilient and future-ready operations, it is essential for us to continue enhancing our ecosystem through innovation, research, and industry collaboration." This declaration came during the inauguration of Mahindra University's new Economic Policy Centre, a platform designed to foster research, dialogue, and policy engagement on topics of national economic significance.

Highlighting the vital synergies between academic research and industrial policy, the minister noted that such collaborations are crucial for maintaining India's competitive edge on the global stage. The centre also hosted its first conclave, themed 'Hyderabad: Powering India's GCC Ecosystem', bringing together senior policymakers, economists, industry leaders, and GCC executives to deliberate on Hyderabad's growing role as India's GCC capital.

Dr Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor of Mahindra University, elaborated on the centre's mission, stating, "We are creating an ecosystem where academic rigour meets real-world application by ensuring that our research contributes directly to the nation's socio-economic blueprint." He added that the centre will focus on driving meaningful conversations on issues pivotal to India's growth story, starting with Hyderabad's emergence as a leading GCC hub.
