Hubballi Railway Division Achieves Historic Milestones in FY 2025-26
The Hubballi division of South Western Railway (SWR) has delivered an exceptional performance during the financial year 2025-26, setting new benchmarks across multiple operational domains. According to an official press release, the division achieved unprecedented success in freight loading, revenue generation, punctuality, infrastructure development, and overall efficiency.
Record-Breaking Freight Loading and Revenue Growth
Freight loading reached an all-time high of 39.49 million tonnes (MT), exceeding the target of 39.46 MT and representing a substantial 22% increase over the previous year's 32.6 MT. This accomplishment establishes Hubballi as the top-performing division in incremental loading among Indian Railways divisions handling over 10 MT of freight.
Notable monthly and daily records were also set. In December 2025, the division achieved its highest-ever monthly loading of 3.78 MT, surpassing the previous record of 3.72 MT from March 2017. Additionally, on December 31, 2025, a new daily record was established with 3,025 wagons loaded, exceeding the earlier benchmark of 3,001 wagons. The momentum continued through March 2026, with loading reaching 3.7 MT.
Revenue figures reflect this robust performance. Passenger revenue grew by 8.1% to Rs 565.7 crore, up from Rs 522.9 crore in the prior year. Freight revenue saw an even more impressive surge, increasing by 16.2% to Rs 3996.2 crore compared to Rs 3437 crore previously.
Enhanced Punctuality and Passenger Services
Despite extensive infrastructure and maintenance activities, the Hubballi division significantly improved mail and express train punctuality. The punctuality rate rose to 93.9% in FY 2025-26, a marked improvement from 86.7% in the previous year.
To accommodate rising passenger demand, the division operated 328 special trains between April 2025 and March 2026, a 40% increase from the 233 special trains run during the same period last year.
Infrastructure and Operational Excellence
The division's cargo handling reached a historic peak of 112.6 MT for the financial year, comprising 73.1 MT of unloading and 39.4 MT of loading. This milestone underscores the division's strengthened freight capabilities.
In a related achievement, scrap disposal hit a record high of 10,547 MT in 2025-26, representing a 17.7% year-on-year growth from 8,990 MT in 2024-25. This effort generated Rs 32 crore in revenue, up from Rs 29 crore in the previous financial year.
The Hubballi division's comprehensive performance highlights its commitment to operational excellence and infrastructure enhancement, positioning it as a leader within the Indian Railways network.
