Eastern Railway's Dunkuni Loco Works Achieves Major Production Milestone with 200th Locomotive
Eastern Railway has reached a significant manufacturing achievement with the flagging off of its 200th locomotive from the Dunkuni Loco Works facility. This production milestone underscores the unit's growing capacity and efficiency in railway manufacturing operations.
Production Targets Exceeded Consistently
During the inauguration ceremony for Loco No 42862, General Manager Milind K Deouskar highlighted the unit's impressive performance trajectory. "Last year, Dankuni surpassed its production target by manufacturing 156 locomotives against a set goal of 100 units," Deouskar stated. "Continuing this positive momentum, the unit has now achieved 200 locomotives this year against a target of 175, demonstrating consistent excellence in production capabilities."
Pioneering Kavach System Integration
The Dunkuni Loco Works has achieved another significant distinction by becoming the first railway production unit in India to successfully integrate the Kavach system into locomotives. This indigenous automatic train protection system enhances railway safety through features like automatic braking and collision prevention.
"Dankuni has commissioned 85 Kavach-equipped locomotives this year alone, marking a substantial advancement in railway safety technology implementation," Deouskar added, emphasizing the unit's commitment to technological innovation alongside production efficiency.
Modern Features in New Locomotives
The newly manufactured locomotives incorporate several modern design elements and functional improvements, including:
- Dedicated inspector seats for monitoring and assessment
- 360-degree rotating driver seats for enhanced visibility and comfort
