District Minister Santosh Lad inaugurated a district-level exhibition and sales fair for products made by artisans and cottage industries on Tuesday at the Karnataka College grounds in Dharwad. The event, organized by the rural and small industries division of the zilla panchayat under the 2025–26 Product Exhibition Scheme, will run for five days from February 24 to 28.

Minister Engages with Entrepreneurs and Self-Help Groups

After the inauguration, Minister Santosh Lad, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Snehal R, actively interacted with cottage industry entrepreneurs and members of self-help groups participating in the exhibition. He inquired in detail about their production processes, sources of raw materials, daily output, and the current status of their businesses, demonstrating a hands-on approach to supporting local economic development.

Wide Array of Products on Display

A total of 32 stalls have been set up at the exhibition, showcasing and selling a diverse range of products. These include:

  • Industrial goods from small-scale manufacturers
  • Household items crafted by local artisans
  • Food products from cottage industries
  • Handicrafts that highlight regional traditions

The exhibition has received a positive response from the public, with many visitors purchasing products on the spot, boosting sales and visibility for the participants.

Minister's Support and Encouragement

In a show of solidarity, Minister Santosh Lad personally bought a few items from the stalls, encouraging local artisans and entrepreneurs. He emphasized that the exhibition provides a valuable platform for small-scale entrepreneurs to showcase their products, enhance their income, and connect with a broader customer base. This initiative aims to foster economic growth and sustainability in the region by promoting indigenous industries.

The event underscores the government's commitment to empowering rural and small-scale businesses through such exhibitions, which not only boost local economies but also preserve cultural heritage through handicrafts and traditional products.
