Major Industrial Boost for Ujjain as 17 Manufacturing Units Set to Launch

In a significant development for the region, as many as 17 manufacturing units with a combined investment of approximately Rs 1,700 crore are poised to commence operations in Ujjain starting from the new financial year. This initiative is expected to generate employment for more than 4,000 individuals, marking a substantial economic uplift for the area.

Strategic Locations Under Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor

The units are being established across two key industrial clusters in the district: Vikram Udyogpuri and the Medical Device Park. Both of these hubs have been developed under the framework of the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), a national project aimed at enhancing industrial infrastructure and connectivity.

Vikram Udyogpuri: A Hub of Diverse Industries

Of the total units, nine are scheduled to start production in Vikram Udyogpuri alone. The largest investment here comes from PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt Ltd, which is setting up a Rs 1,225-crore facility dedicated to manufacturing beverage flavouring ingredients. Officials have confirmed that this plant is already prepared for operations.

Other notable companies in the Vikram Udyogpuri cluster include:

  • Simplico Industries Pvt Ltd: Manufacturing eco-friendly paper plates.
  • JK Lifecare Centres and Chemerix Life Sciences Pvt Ltd: Operating in the pharmaceutical segment.

Collectively, the units in Vikram Udyogpuri account for an investment of about Rs 1,360 crore and are projected to generate employment for over 1,700 people.

Medical Device Park: Focus on Healthcare Equipment

Eight units are set to begin production at the Medical Device Park, with a primary focus on healthcare equipment manufacturing. These include:

The eight units at the Medical Device Park represent a combined investment of around Rs 254 crore and are expected to employ approximately 2,400 individuals.

Economic and Social Impact

This influx of manufacturing units is set to significantly bolster Ujjain's economy by attracting substantial investments and creating thousands of job opportunities. The diverse range of industries, from food processing and pharmaceuticals to engineering and healthcare, underscores the region's growing industrial diversification and potential for sustainable growth.

With the support of DMIC and proactive policy measures, Ujjain is poised to emerge as a key industrial hub in Madhya Pradesh, contributing to both local development and the broader national economy.
