Haryana Leads India in SGST Growth at 22% in FY 2025-26

Haryana Achieves Top Spot in India for SGST Revenue Growth

In a significant economic milestone, Haryana has secured the number one position across India for growth in gross State GST (SGST) revenues during the financial year 2025–26. The state recorded an impressive 22% increase in SGST collections compared to the previous financial year, showcasing robust fiscal performance.

National Comparison and Revenue Figures

This growth rate far outpaces the national average, which stood at a modest 6% for the same period. Haryana's gross SGST collection, after settlements, reached Rs 48,289 crore in FY 2025–26. This represents a substantial rise of Rs 8,546 crore over the previous year's figures, highlighting the state's accelerating economic momentum.

Improved National Ranking and Taxpayer Base

As a result of this sustained high growth, Haryana has climbed to the sixth position in national GST revenue rankings, moving up from ninth place in FY 2024–25. The state has surpassed other major states such as Telangana, West Bengal, and Rajasthan in this regard.

Supporting this revenue surge is a growing taxpayer base. As of April 1, 2026, Haryana has 6,30,818 registered taxpayers under the GST system. This marks a 12% increase from the last financial year and reflects steady growth since the inception of GST, indicating broadening compliance and economic activity.

Factors Behind the Growth

An official spokesperson attributed this commendable performance to the GST reforms implemented by the GST Council in September 2025. These reforms have been effectively leveraged by Haryana's tax administration, which utilizes data analytics to enhance efficiency and collection.

The spokesperson emphasized that the growth in SGST collection is a clear indicator of Haryana's thriving economy and the effectiveness of its tax governance. Additionally, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude towards the taxpayers of Haryana for their timely payments and contributions to the state's development, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this fiscal success.

In summary, Haryana's leading position in SGST revenue growth not only highlights its economic vitality but also sets a benchmark for other states in India, driven by policy reforms, administrative innovation, and taxpayer cooperation.
