Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Thursday that no new work orders will be issued to contractors who fail to complete projects on time. During a war room meeting at the Sahyadri state guest house, he reviewed the progress of various infrastructure projects and stressed that agencies must ensure timely completion.
Key Directives on Project Timelines
Fadnavis emphasized that infrastructure projects should be completed within three and a half years. He noted that the time taken by a contractor to finish a project should be a key criterion for selection. Acknowledging challenges in project execution, he urged mechanisms to overcome these difficulties.
Dharavi Slum Redevelopment
Regarding the Dharavi slum redevelopment project, Fadnavis directed that orders be issued to provide relief to entrepreneurs from state GST. He instructed that issues related to the tender process need not be brought before the cabinet again and called for coordinated efforts among departments to resolve pending matters.
BDD Chawl Redevelopment
On the redevelopment of BDD chawls, the CM ordered the immediate takeover of chawl houses currently occupied by residents at Worli, NM Joshi Marg, and Naigaon in Dadar. He directed that the next phase of redevelopment should commence without delay.
Thane-Borivli Tunnel and Goregaon-Mulund Link Road
Seeking a progress report on the Thane-Borivli tunnel project, Fadnavis insisted it must be completed within the prescribed timeframe. For the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road project, he set a deadline of January 2029.
Virar-Alibaug Multi-Modal Corridor
The CM called for expediting land acquisition for the Virar-Alibaug multi-modal corridor. He noted that improved infrastructure would boost land values in surrounding areas and urged the government to identify zones along the route to promote specific industries through investor development.
Metro Line Progress
The meeting also reviewed the progress of work on various metro lines across the city.
