Gold Futures Exhibit Divergent Trends on MCX Amid Firm Global Cues

Gold prices displayed a mixed performance in futures trading on Thursday, with near-term contracts experiencing mild profit booking while longer-dated contracts remained supported by firm global cues. This divergence highlights the ongoing volatility in the bullion market, influenced by safe-haven demand and broader macroeconomic uncertainties.

MCX Futures Trading Details

As of 15:22 pm, gold futures for April delivery on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) were trading at Rs 1,58,360 per 10 grams, marking a decline of Rs 395 or 0.25 per cent. The June contract followed a similar trend, dropping by Rs 196 or 0.12 per cent to Rs 1,61,503 per 10 grams. In contrast, the August contract gained Rs 900 or 0.55 per cent, reaching Rs 1,65,053 per 10 grams, indicating stronger support for longer-term positions.

Bullion prices remained largely underpinned by safe-haven demand and global macro uncertainty, even as some profit booking was observed in near-term contracts during the trading session. This pattern reflects investor caution amid fluctuating economic indicators and geopolitical tensions.
