Mohali: In a significant breakthrough, the Mohali police have arrested three men linked to a series of robberies, recovering 50 grams of heroin and a stolen vehicle from their possession. The arrests were carried out by a specialized team as part of an ongoing anti-crime campaign targeting active criminal syndicates in the region.
Initial Arrests and Recovery
The operation began when investigators apprehended two suspects and recovered two gold chains, a laptop, three mobile phones, and keys to a stolen Mahindra Thar SUV. Following sustained interrogation, the police arrested Jagrup Singh of Tarn Taran, Kundan Lal of Phagwara, and Jeevandeep Singh of Chandigarh. Additional recoveries included two iPhones, another laptop, and a Maruti Swift car used in the commission of crimes.
Narcotics Seizure and Charges
During a thorough search, officers discovered 50 grams of heroin in Jagrup Singh's possession. Consequently, the police invoked stringent drug trafficking charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, in addition to existing robbery and conspiracy cases registered at the IT City police station.
Criminal Background and Further Investigation
Preliminary inquiries revealed that both Jagrup Singh and Kundan Lal are habitual offenders with extensive criminal records across multiple districts. The suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to trace their broader network of fences and receivers. Authorities expect to solve more regional thefts as the interrogation continues.
