French market research giant Ipsos has announced an ambitious investment plan totaling 1.2 billion euros, equivalent to approximately $1.4 billion, to be deployed over the next five years. This substantial financial commitment will focus on artificial intelligence development and strategic acquisitions as the company seeks to revitalize its growth trajectory.

According to CEO Jean-Laurent Poitou, the investment will be strategically divided between several key areas. "We will increase the proportion of data scientists and artificial intelligence engineers among Ipsos' talent pool in the coming years," Poitou emphasized during a recent interview. "This is one of the reasons why we will be investing." Currently, Ipsos employs over 1,000 professionals specializing in data science and AI engineering, a number expected to grow substantially under this new initiative.

The company has clarified that its AI efforts will primarily concentrate on commercial research applications, which represent the majority of its revenue stream. This strategic focus means political polling, a smaller segment of their business, will receive less emphasis in the AI development pipeline.
