HPCL CSR Funds BLS Ambulance for Hunsur

District health officer Dr PC Kumaraswamy on Thursday launched a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance facility in Mysuru, funded by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Enhancing Emergency Care on National Highway

Speaking after the launch at the DHO office premises, Dr Kumaraswamy stated that the facility will benefit residents of Hunsur and surrounding areas during emergencies. The national highway stretch connecting to Hunsur has witnessed a rising number of road accidents in recent years, making this service crucial.

Features of the BLS Ambulance

The ambulance is equipped with basic life-support features, including oxygen supply, a suction machine, and other life-saving drugs. It is designed to provide immediate medical assistance at accident sites and during transit.

Impact on Local Population

The newly launched service will cater to approximately two lakh residents of Hunsur taluk, supplementing two existing ambulance services in the area. Health authorities noted that the additional ambulance has also facilitated the transfer of pregnant mothers requiring NICU care from Hunsur to Mysuru. District health records show four to five critical cases daily from Hunsur taluk.

The event was attended by health department officers Mohammed Siraj, Gopinath, Hunsur taluk health officer Dr Shivashankar, HPCL pipeline division executive director Ramesh, deputy general manager B Vijayakumar, and others.
