Hescom Cuts Power Charges by 10 Paise per Unit

Dharwad: Hubballi Electricity Supply Company Limited (Hescom) has announced a reduction in electricity charges by 10 paise per unit for the financial year 2026–27. This benefit is applicable to consumers who were customers during the 2024–25 financial year.

Efficiency Leads to Savings

Hescom achieved high efficiency in power procurement, management, and expenditure during the 2024–25 period. The company generated total revenue of Rs 12,112.2 crore from power sales and other sources, while its expenditure stood at Rs 11,958.7 crore. This resulted in savings of Rs 153.4 crore, which the company has decided to return to eligible consumers.

Refund Mechanism

As per the order of the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC), the refund will be applicable only to consumers of the 2024–25 financial year. Based on their actual consumption during that period, an amount calculated at 10 paise per unit will be refunded in 12 equal monthly installments during 2026–27. This amount will be shown separately in electricity bills as "FY25 True-Up Charges."
