The Vadodara city crime branch has successfully cracked a daylight burglary case involving stolen valuables worth Rs 4.94 lakh from the residence of a retired school principal in Nadiad. One accused has been arrested, and a portion of the stolen property has been recovered.
Arrest and Recovery
Acting on a tip-off, crime branch sleuths tracked down history-sheeter Nihal Barot, a resident of Tandalja, who was allegedly attempting to sell stolen jewellery. Barot was intercepted in the Tandalja area. A search of his scooter led to the recovery of silver ornaments and other articles valued at Rs 1.23 lakh, along with Rs 1 lakh in cash. Additionally, police seized a gold finance company slip and two mobile phones from his possession.
Handover to Nadiad Police
Barot and the seized items have been handed over to the Nadiad police for further investigation. Officials have confirmed that Barot has been involved in multiple offences since 2011 in both Vadodara city and district, with the majority of cases linked to theft and burglary.
The swift action by the crime branch has brought relief to the victim and highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing in solving property crimes.
