Akasa Air has announced its foray into Rajasthan with the launch of direct daily flights to Udaipur, marking a significant step in the airline's domestic network expansion. Effective October 15, 2026, the carrier will operate non-stop services connecting Udaipur with Mumbai and Bengaluru, two of India's busiest metropolitan hubs.
Bookings for these routes are now open via Akasa Air's official website, its Android and iOS mobile applications, and through leading travel agents and online travel agencies (OTAs), the airline confirmed on Thursday.
Strategic Addition to Meet Growing Tourism Demand
The decision to add Udaipur to its network aligns with rising demand for experiential travel, destination weddings, and premium tourism from metropolitan cities. Udaipur, often called the 'City of Lakes', is a major cultural and heritage destination in Rajasthan.
Anand Srinivasan, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air, commented on the expansion: "We are delighted to launch services to Udaipur, a city that represents India's rich cultural heritage and continues to see strong demand across leisure and hospitality travel. With direct connectivity from Mumbai and Bengaluru, customers will now have more convenient access to one of the country's most iconic destinations."
Network and Fleet Growth
Since its inception in August 2022, Akasa Air has carried over 28 million passengers. With the addition of Udaipur, the airline's network now covers 28 domestic and 7 international cities, including Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City, Phuket, and Hanoi.
The airline operates a fleet of 39 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and has a firm order pipeline of 226 aeroplanes. These are powered by fuel-efficient CFM LEAP-1B engines, reinforcing Akasa Air's position as an environmentally progressive carrier with one of the greenest fleets in Indian aviation.
Customer-Centric Approach
Srinivasan added that the airline remains focused on building a relevant, customer-centric network aligned with evolving travel demands, promising travellers a warm, dependable, and efficient flying experience. The new Udaipur routes are expected to cater to both leisure and business travelers seeking convenient connectivity to Rajasthan.
The airline's expansion comes amid a competitive domestic aviation market, with carriers vying for market share by adding new routes and frequencies. Akasa Air's focus on fuel-efficient aircraft and customer service aims to differentiate it in the crowded space.
