In a significant boost to local employment opportunities, a total of 820 candidates were selected for jobs across various sectors at an employment fair held in Ganjam district's Chikiti on Thursday. The event, which attracted substantial participation from job seekers and employers alike, marks a positive development for the region's workforce.

Strong Registration Numbers and Employer Participation

The employment fair, organized jointly by the skill development and technical education department and the district administration, saw an impressive 1,394 job aspirants register their names for consideration. This high level of interest underscores the demand for employment opportunities in the area.

A diverse range of 45 employers and 10 training-cum-placement agencies actively participated in the event, offering positions in multiple industries. This broad participation ensured candidates had access to varied job prospects tailored to different skill sets and qualifications.

Immediate Offers and Training Programs

Of the selected candidates, 215 individuals received immediate offer letters during the fair, providing them with direct employment opportunities. Additionally, 181 candidates were selected for a training-cum-placement programme, which combines skill development with guaranteed job placement upon successful completion.

This dual approach of immediate hiring and structured training programs addresses both short-term employment needs and long-term career development for the local youth.

Special Guidance from Indian Army

Adding to the fair's comprehensive nature, the Indian Army also participated in the event, offering valuable guidance and career counseling to the attending youths. Their involvement provided insights into defense sector opportunities and broader career pathways available through military service.

Dignitaries and Official Inauguration

The employment fair was formally inaugurated by Chikiti MLA Manoranjan Dyan Samantara, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives for regional development. The event was also attended by additional district magistrate (general) Pramod Kumar Prusty and other key officials from the district administration.

Their presence highlighted the government's commitment to addressing unemployment through collaborative efforts between various departments and local stakeholders.

The successful employment fair in Chikiti demonstrates how targeted job placement initiatives can effectively connect qualified candidates with employment opportunities while supporting the broader economic development of Ganjam district.
